HOME SWEET HOME!

Oh yes, how very sweet it is to be back home after camping in KK Hospital for the past 4 days...

On Tuesday, 8 Sep 09, when i picked Nicole up from childcare, I noticed immediately that she didn't look too well. She didn't even want to eat her favourite tamago sushi.. When we reached grandma's house, she started having a fever and pain in her abdomen..so we took her to a nearby GP to get her checked up, while Rachel stayed over at grandma's house...

Dr said her lungs sound clear, gave her some medication to clear her airways...At home, Nicole had no appetite whatsoever and her fever didn't subside. Throughout the night. i stayed awake to sponge her, soothe her abdomen, feed her sips of water, read up on H1N1,...and prayed. Then she started vomitting and was lethargic, so we quickly brought her to KK Hospital on Wednesday morning.

They extracted some blood to do a blood test. They also took 3 swabs from her nose. The quick 45-min test showed negative for H1N1. I was relieved... But the results of the blood test was not good -> white blood cells were extremely high..shows that there's bacteria in her body..to do an X-ray to check whether she has pneumonia! i was not prepared for the news at all...tears welled up in my eyes as i feebly pushed Nicole to the x-ray room in a wheelchair (she said she too weak to walk on her own) and back to the Dr's with the results...it was confirmed that she had pneumonia (right lobe) & had to be hospitalised..and because it was pretty bad, antibiotics was to be given by IV...I wasn't allowed in the lab (i guess it was for my own good), but i could hear Nicole screaming & crying out in pain as they set up the IV on her left hand and took more blood from her for further tests. My heart sank and i broke down and prayed for God to comfort & heal her...

Thursday...more bad news -> the detailed tests showed that she's H1N1 positive! They started her on Tamiflu straightaway...

Friday...Nicole's appetite is improving a little. She is a bit more active too. But oh oh, Daddy is also not feeling well..he's got a fever, a very bad throat, body-aches and chills..Daddy is down with H1N1 too! When she fell asleep at night, i quickly made a trip back home to check up on daddy and to get some groceries, 'liang cha', etc. for him...i was back in the hospital just before mid-night..felt like cinderalla..ha..

Then came the good news on Saturday -> blood culture shows negative, she can be discharged! She has to continue taking oral antibiotics for 11 days + tamiflu & something to get rid of the phlegm, and recuperate at home for at least a week. Nicole is looking & feeling better today. Thank God for His loving care & healing! We would also like to thank family & friends for all their prayers and support in one way or another! :-)

Our little precious, still able to smile so sweetly after having been through all the pain & discomfort... makes daddy & mummy's heart ache so much lei! :'-(
